Our Ewes -
vThe hard working group on our property, producing lambs every spring and doing a good job at it too!  Our ewes are kept in a large pasture where they browse, climb, lamb and live.  They are supplemented with grain at night time, used mainly to get them into the barn.  They are fed grass/alfalfa hay while needed and when the grass is long and nutritious they forage for themselves.
Our ewes lamb with minimal interference and normally have no problem, often doing it all un-assisted.  We only go in and tie off the umbilical chord and then leave the lambs to mama for cleaning and general care.  Many of our ewes are friendly and have good dispositions, especially toward their shepherdess.  They are easily moved from pasture to pasture to barn and are shorn and trimmed once a year.  Our goal in raising our sheep is to continue with the breed's well known hardiness.
